Thyroid Surgery
Surgery plays a central role in diagnosis and treatment of many thyroid neoplasms. Thyroid surgery may be required for differential diagnosis of nodules that are cytologically indeterminate. Thyroidectomy is indicated when malignancy is known or cannot be excluded, and in some cases for treatment of benign nodules causing compressive symptoms or hyperthyroidism.
